Installation (Rear)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When servicing the rear brake pads, replace the anti-rattle slips on the brake adapter. Anti-rattle clips are provided with the shoe lining kit.
  1. Bottom the piston in the caliper bore with C-clamp. Place an old brake shoe between the C-clamp and caliper piston.
  2. Clean the caliper mounting surface.
  3. CAUTION: Anti-rattle springs are NOT interchangeable.
  4. Install the anti-rattle clips.
  5. Install the inboard brake pad in adapter. See Figure.
  6. Install the outboard brake pad adapter. See Figure.
  7. Install the caliper. See CALIPER .
  8. Install the wheel and tire assemblies and lower vehicle. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Apply brakes several times to seat caliper pistons and brake shoes and obtain firm pedal.
  10. Top off master cylinder fluid level. See CHECKING & FILLING  under BRAKE FLUID in SERVICE.
