Diagnostic Procedure

PRNDL INDICATOR MALFUNCTION (4.7L) - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION
1 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII(R), select Body, then Electro/Mech Cluster.
Was the DRBIII(R) able to communicate with the Instrument Cluster?
  1. Yes --> Go To 2
  2. No --> Refer to the COMMUNICATION  category and perform the appropriate symptom.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

2 Observe the PRNDL indicators while cycling the ignition from the off to the on position.
Did all of the indicators illuminate?
  1. Yes --> Go To 3
  2. No --> Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

3 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII(R), select Trans, Monitor Display, Shift Lever, then SLP.
Monitor the Shift Lever status.
NOTE: Engage the Park Brake before proceeding.

Move the gear shift lever through all of the different positions.
Does the SLP reading match the state of the transmission gear?
  1. Yes --> Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

  2. No --> Refer to the OVERHAUL - 42RLE category and perform the appropriate symptom.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .
