Diagnostic Procedure

ANY HARDWIRED CLUSTER INDICATOR INOPERATIVE - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST	ACTION
1	Turn the ignition off. Remove the Instrument Cluster. Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary. NOTE: Refer to the SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS if the signal for the indicator in question is hard wired to the Instrument Cluster or transmitted on the PCI Bus. NOTE: Certain indicators are LED's and are not serviceable. If an LED is found to be inoperative, the Instrument Cluster must be replaced. Remove and inspect the inoperative indicator bulb. Is the indicator bulb open? Yes --> Replace the bulb. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 . No --> Go To 2
2	Turn the ignition off. NOTE: The Instrument Cluster has several hardwired inputs direct to certain indicators, these inputs either provide ground or power to the indicator. NOTE: Certain indicators are LED's and are not serviceable. If an LED is found to be inoperative, the Instrument Cluster must be replaced. Remove the Instrument Cluster. Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary. Check for ground or power at the appropriate Instrument Cluster harness connector terminal relating to the inoperative indicator. If necessary, turn the ignition on. Is the correct ground or power present? Yes --> Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 . No --> Refer to the appropriate service information (Wiring Diagrams) for the related symptom(s). Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .

TEST

ACTION

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Instrument Cluster.
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

NOTE: Refer to the SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS if the signal for the indicator in question is hard wired to the Instrument Cluster or transmitted on the PCI Bus.

NOTE: Certain indicators are LED's and are not serviceable. If an LED is found to be inoperative, the Instrument Cluster must be replaced.

Remove and inspect the inoperative indicator bulb.
Is the indicator bulb open?

Yes --> Replace the bulb.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .
No --> Go To 2

Turn the ignition off.

NOTE: The Instrument Cluster has several hardwired inputs direct to certain indicators, these inputs either provide ground or power to the indicator.

NOTE: Certain indicators are LED's and are not serviceable. If an LED is found to be inoperative, the Instrument Cluster must be replaced.

Remove the Instrument Cluster.
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Check for ground or power at the appropriate Instrument Cluster harness connector terminal relating to the inoperative indicator.
If necessary, turn the ignition on.
Is the correct ground or power present?

Yes --> Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .
No --> Refer to the appropriate service information (Wiring Diagrams) for the related symptom(s).
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .
