Diagnostic Procedure

BACKLIGHT DIMMING RX FAILURE (ACTIVE) - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION
1
NOTE: Make sure that the Cargo Dome switch is not in set in Funeral Mode.
Turn the ignition on.If equipped with A/C, turn the Blower control to low speed.If equipped with A/C, press the A/C switch on.If equipped with Heated Mirrors, press the EBL switch on.Watch the A/C (if equipped)/EBL (if equipped) status indicator(s) on the A/C-Heater Control Module while turning the Headlamp switch on and then off.Did the status indicator(s) dim when the Headlamp switch was turned on?
  1. Yes --> No problem found at this time.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

  2. No --> Go To 2
2 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII(R) in Monitor Display, PCI Bus Messages, look for the VF DIM Msg Present.
Does the DRB display: VF DIM Msg present: Yes?
  1. Yes --> Replace the A/C - Heater Control Module in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

  2. No --> Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .
