Diagnostic Procedure

TEMPERATURE DISPLAY INACCURATE OR INOPERATIVE - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION
1 With the DRBIII(R) in HVAC, read the Ambient Temperature Sensor Enable/Disable state. If the Ambient Temperature Sensor is enabled, disable it.
With the DRBIII(R), read PCM DTCs.
Does the DRBIII(R) display any Ambient Temperature Sensor DTCs?
  1. Yes --> Refer to DRIVEABILITY - NGC for the related symptom(s).

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

  2. No --> Go To 2
2 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Ambient Temperature Sensor using the following values:
10°C (50°F) = 17.99 - 21.81 Kilohms
20°C (68°F) = 11.37 - 13.61 Kilohms
25°C (77°F) = 9.12 - 10.88 Kilohms
30°C (86°F) = 7.37 - 8.75 Kilohms
40°C (104°F) = 4.90 - 5.75 Kilohms
50°C (122°F) = 3.33 - 3.88 Kilohms
Does the Ambient Temp Sensor measure between the correct min/max values?
  1. Yes --> Replace the CMTC in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

  2. No --> Replace the Ambient Temperature Sensor.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .
