Diagnostic Procedure

COMPASS/MINI TRIP COMPUTER INOPERATIVE - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION
1 Turn off the ignition.
Inspect the #11 fuse in the Junction Block.
If the fuse is open, replace with proper rated fuse.
Cycle the ignition.
Inspect the #11 fuse in the Junction Block.
Is the #11 fuse open?
  1. Yes --> Repair the short to ground in the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

  2. No --> Go To 2
2 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Overhead Console harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
NOTE: Ensure the battery is fully charged.

Measure the voltage of the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit.
Is the voltage above 10.5 volts?
  1. Yes --> Go To 3
  2. No --> Repair the open in the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Overhead Console harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Overhead Console Ground circuit to a known good ground.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?
  1. Yes --> Repair the open in Overhead Console ground circuit.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .

  2. No --> Replace and program the Compass/Mini-Trip Computer in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .
