Test 10A - Vehicle Communications

  1. Remove and inspect fuse No. 17. If fuse is open, go to TEST 10B - VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS  . If not, go to next step.
  2. Using voltmeter, measure ignition switch output RUN/START at fuse No. 17. If voltage above 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage not above 10 volts, repair open ignition switch output circuit to fuse No. 17.
  3. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes. Disconnect air bag control module 13-way connector. Reinstall fuse No. 17 and reconnect battery. Use voltmeter to measure fused ignition switch output RUN/START (CAV 1). If voltage is above 10 volts, go to next step. If not, repair open ignition switch output circuit to fuse No. 17.
  4. Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter measure ground circuit. If resistance is not above 5 ohms, repair open ground circuit. If resistance is above 5 ohms, jumper CCD BUS (+) circuit to ground. Use DRB to perform BUS TEST. If DRB shows SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step. If not, repair open CCD BUS (+) circuit.
  5. jumper CCD BUS (-) circuit to ground. Use DRB to perform BUS TEST. If DRB shows SHORT TO GROUND, replace ACM. If DRB does not show SHORT TO GROUND, repair open CCD BUS (-) circuit.
