Coil, Clutch: Installation

  1. Route the wires through the rear transfer case half (2) and install the clutch coil (1) into the rear transfer case half.

  2. Install the clutch coil nuts (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  3. Install clutch coil wire terminal ends into the clutch coil wire harness connector (2), engage the terminal ends in the tabs, then install the cover (1).
    NOTE:

    If the original convoluted sheath is damaged, install new convoluted sheath.

  4. Install the convoluted sheath and install new tie straps to secure it in position.

  5. Install the wire retainer (1) on the back of the clutch coil wire harness connector (2).

  6. Install the clutch rotor (1) onto the input shaft.

  7. Install the bearing (1) onto the input shaft.

  8. Install the spacer (1).
  9. Apply a bead of Loctite® 598 HB to the front case half sealing surface.

  10. Install the rear transfer case half (1).
  11. Install the rear transfer case half bolts and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  12. Install the rear output flange (1).

  13. Install the outer rear output shaft seal (1).

  14. Install the rear output flange washer (1).
  15. Install the rear output flange nut.

  16. Install (special tool #6958, Wrench, Spanner) Spanner Wrench (1) onto the rear output flange (2) and tighten the rear output flange nut to the proper specification

    Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  17. Install the transfer case. Refer to INSTALLATION .
