Plate, Carrier: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Remove the silencer panel. Refer to PANEL, SILENCER, REMOVAL .

  3. Disconnect the two wire harness connectors (1) from the door wire harness (2).
  4. Remove the exterior handle. Refer to HANDLE, EXTERIOR, REMOVAL .

  5. Remove the exterior handle support screw (1).
  6. Remove the front door trim, Refer to PANEL, DOOR TRIM, REMOVAL .

  7. Open the latch access panel (1) located on the carrier plate near the lock rod assembly.

  8. Carefully remove the closeout plug (1) covering the front window regulator access hole located just behind the electronic mirror module.

  9. Temporarily install the window switch pod, reconnect the negative battery cable and lower the window until the white regulator tabs are visible in both access holes (1).

    NOTE:

    Typical glass shown in the illustration, Charger is similar.

  10. Using a small round bladed tool (2) or equivalent, release the door glass (1) from the window regulator glass sliders (3).
  11. Secure the window glass into place with a wedge or tape.
  12. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the window switch pod.

  13. Remove the front door latch mounting screws (1).

  14. Remove the exterior handle support screw (1).

  15. Remove the front door harness wiring (1) bracket from the front of the door.

  16. If necessary, disconnect the link rods from the rear of the exterior handle assembly.
  17. Remove the seven carrier plate bolts (1).
  18. Disengage the four carrier plate torx head retainers (3).

  19. Remove the carrier plate (3) from the front door.
  20. If servicing the latch, separate the presenter and the latch from the carrier plate.
