Diagnostic Test

ACTIVE DTC

Ignition on, engine not running.
With the scan tool check for active DTCs.
Is the DTC active?

Yes
- If this DTC is present, the DEF Tank is Empty causing the starter to be disabled. A minimum of two gallons of approved Diesel Exhaust Fluid must be added for engine to be started.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
