Diagnostic Test

- DTC IS ACTIVE NOTE:
If there are any other O2 Sensor DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before proceeding with this one.
NOTE:If there are any cylinder misfire, Crank Sensor, MAF Sensor, EGR, Fuel Pressure or Fuel Injector DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before proceeding with this one.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, Clear DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module.
- Start the engine.
- Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
- Monitor the scan tool for at least five minutes.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM
- Perform the CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

Were any fuel system problems found?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate repairs to the fuel system.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Perform the CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

- CHECK THE INTAKE AIR SYSTEM
- Check the Intake Air System for any signs of a leak or restriction.
Were any fuel system problems found?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate repairs to the Intake Air System.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- Check the Intake Air System for any signs of a leak or restriction.
- CHECK THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR LEAKS
- Check the Exhaust System for any signs of a leak or restriction.
Were any Exhaust System problems found?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate repairs to the Exhaust System.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- Check the Exhaust System for any signs of a leak or restriction.
- CHECK THE EGR SYSTEM
- Look for visible signs (soot streaks) of an external EGR leak.
- Using the scan tool, perform the EGR Actuation/Testing procedure.
Were any problems found with the EGR system?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate repairs to the EGR system.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- OXYGEN SENSOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Replace the Oxygen Sensor in accordance with the service information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, navigate to Actuator Tests and perform the O2 Sensor Replaced procedure.
- Start the engine.
- Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
- Monitor the scan tool for at least five minutes.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test Complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
