Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Start the engine and allow to reach operating temperature.
- Test drive the vehicle during normal operating conditions.
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
Did this DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE (K414) DEF LEVEL/TEMPERATURE SIGNAL FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the DEF Pump-Level/Temperature Sensor Assembly harness connector.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between the (K414) Def Level/Temperature Signal circuit and all other circuits on the PCM C1 harness connector at the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (K414) Def Level/Temperature Signal circuit for a short to the circuit that measured less than 10k Ohms.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE DEF LEVEL/TEMPERATURE SIGNAL FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (K414) Def Level/Temperature Signal circuit between the DEF Pump-Level/Temperature Sensor Assembly harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (K414) Def Level/Temperature Signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- Measure the resistance of the (K414) Def Level/Temperature Signal circuit between the DEF Pump-Level/Temperature Sensor Assembly harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
- DEF PUMP-LEVEL/TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY
- Turn the ignition off.
- Replace the DEF Pump-Level/Temperature Sensor Assembly in accordance with the service information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
- Start the engine and allow to reach operating temperature.
- Test drive the vehicle during normal operating conditions.
- With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
