Diagnostic Test

- DTC IS ACTIVE
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes.
- Cycle the ignition key off and on several times, leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds at a time.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE (G224) EOT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the EOT Sensor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (G224) EOT Signal circuit at the EOT Sensor harness connector.
Is the voltage above 5.2 Volts?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (G224) Engine Oil Temperature Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (G224) EOT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (G224) EOT Signal circuit between the EOT Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (G224) Engine Oil Temperature Signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (G924) SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (G924) Sensor Return circuit between the EOT Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the (G924) Sensor Return circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance of the (G924) Sensor Return circuit between the EOT Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
- POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
- Turn the ignition off.
- Replace the Engine Oil Temperature Sensor in accordance with the service information.
- Reconnect the EOT Sensor harness connector.
- Reconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Start the engine and let it run for 10 minutes.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Did this DTC become active?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair is complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
