The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will set the fault if it detects that the Exhaust Temperature Sensor 1/5 Signal voltage is above 4.4 Volts for two seconds. A default value will be used for the Exhaust Temperature Sensor 1/4 and active DEF injection will be disabled. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will illuminate the amber CHECK ENGINE lamp and Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) immediately after diagnostic runs and fails. Engine torque will be reduced if the engine is operated for a limited period of time with the fault code active. The PCM will turn off the MIL lamp immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes in three consecutive drive cycles.
