WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 RAM 3500 HD and 2013 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. OTHER DTCS PRESENT
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Do you have any additional water in fuel DTCs?

      Yes

      • Repair other Water in fuel sensor DTCs first.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No

      • Go To  2
  2. WATER IN FUEL
    NOTE:

Both Fuel Separators are internal components of the two Fuel Filters.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Using the service publications as a guide, drain both WIF Separators.

Did the DTC become inactive after draining the water in both WIF Separators?

      Yes

      • Clear DTC, repair complete.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (K900) WIF SENSOR 2 GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
    1. Disconnect the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector.
    2. Disconnect both PCM (C1 and C2) harness connectors.
      NOTE:

Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

    3. Measure the resistance of the (K900) WIF Sensor 2 Ground circuit between the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector and pin 62 at the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Repair the (K900) WIF Sensor 2 Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE (K303) WIF SENSOR 2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
    1. Measure the resistance of the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit between the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Repair the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No

      • Go To  5
  5. CHECK THE (K303) WIF SENSOR 2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Measure the resistance between ground and the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit at the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 10k Ohms?

      Yes

      • Repair the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit for short to ground.
