Diagnostic Test

  1. ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active at this time?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. WATER IN WIF SENSOR 2 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector.
    3. Ignition on, engine not running.
      NOTE:

      Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

    4. Measure the voltage between the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit and the (K900) Sensor ground circuit at the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector.

      Is the voltage between 4.5 and 5.5 Volts?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Water in Fuel Sensor 2 in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (K303) WIF SENSOR 2 FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the C1 PCM harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Measure the voltage on the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit at the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE (K303) WIF SENSOR 2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Measure the resistance on the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit from the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector to the C1 PCM harness connector.

      Is the resistance greater than 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (K303) WIF Sensor 2 Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. CHECK THE (K900) WIF SENSOR 2 GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance on the (K900) WIF Sensor 2 Ground circuit from the WIF Sensor 2 harness connector to ground.

      Is the resistance greater than 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (K900) WIF Sensor 2 Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  6
  6. WATER IN WIF SENSOR 1 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the WIF Sensor 1 harness connector.
    3. Reconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
    4. Ignition on, engine not running.
      NOTE:

      Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

    5. Measure the voltage between the (G123) WIF Sensor 1 Signal circuit and the (K914) Sensor ground circuit at the WIF Sensor 1 harness connector.

      Is the voltage between 4.5 and 5.5 Volts?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Water in Fuel Sensor 1 in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  7
  7. CHECK THE (G123) WIF SENSOR 1 FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the C1 PCM harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Measure the voltage on the (G123) WIF Sensor 1 Signal circuit at the WIF Sensor 1 harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (G123) WIF Sensor 1 Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  8
  8. CHECK THE (G123) WIF SENSOR 1 SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Measure the resistance on the (G123) WIF Sensor 1 Signal circuit from the WIF Sensor 1 harness connector to the C1 PCM harness connector.

      Is the resistance greater than 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (G123) WIF Sensor 1 Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  9
  9. CHECK THE (K914) WIF SENSOR 1 GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Measure the resistance on the (K914) WIF Sensor 1 Ground circuit from the WIF Sensor 1 harness connector to ground.

      Is the resistance greater than 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (K914) WIF Sensor 1 Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
