Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE DOOR LOCK MOTORS FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT NOTE:
Using the Wiring Diagrams as a guide, disconnect each Door Latch on the (P777) Door Lock Relay Control circuit, one at a time, and check if the DTC returns or changes to Stored.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect one of the Door Latches on the (P777) Door Lock Relay Control circuit.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return or change to Stored?
Yes
- Repeat this step for the remaining Door Latches on the (P777) Door Lock Relay Control circuit. If the DTC is still Active after the Door Latches are disconnected, Go To 3
No
- Replace the Door Lock Motor (integral to the Door Latch) that allowed the DTC to be erased, or changed to Stored, in accordance with the Service Information. or. Refer to LATCH, DOOR, REMOVAL . Refer to LATCH, DOOR, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE TAILGATE MOTOR AND RAMBOX LOCK MOTORS FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT NOTE:
A shorted Tailgate Lock Motor or RamBox Lock Motor can also set this DTC.
NOTE:Using the Wiring Diagrams as a guide, disconnect the Tailgate Latch and RamBox Latches on the (P235) Secondary Lock Driver circuit, one at a time, and check if the DTC returns or changes to Stored.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Tailgate Latch harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return or change to Stored?
Yes
- Repeat this step for the RamBox Latches. If the DTC is still Active after the Tailgate Latch and RamBox Latches are disconnected, Go To 4
No
- Replace the Tailgate Lock Motor or RamBox Lock Motor (integral to the Latch) that allowed the DTC to be erased, or changed to Stored, in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (P777) DOOR LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the BCM C6/F harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (P777) Door Lock Control circuit at the BCM C6/F harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (P777) Door Lock Control circuit?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (P777) Door Lock Control circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK THE (P235) SECONDARY LOCK DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND NOTE:
A short to ground on the (P235) Secondary Lock Driver circuit can set this DTC.
- Disconnect the BCM C5/E harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (P235) Secondary Lock Driver circuit at the BCM C5/E harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (P235) Secondary Lock Driver circuit?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (P235) Secondary Lock Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all BCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all BCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
