Module, Fuel Pump: Removal

  1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE  .
  2. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to TANK, FUEL, REMOVAL .
  3. Note the rotational position of module before attempting removal. An indexing arrow is located on top of module for this purpose.
  4. Position the (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) (3) into notches on outside edge of lock ring (5).
  5. Install a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar (1) to (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) (3).
  6. Rotate the breaker bar counterclockwise to remove lock ring.
  7. Remove the lock ring. The module will spring up slightly when lock ring is removed.
  8. Remove the module from fuel tank. Be careful not to bend float arm while removing.
