Diagnostic Test
- ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
If DTC P0107, P0108, P064F, P2227, P2228, P2229 or any EGR related DTCs are present, perform those test procedures before proceeding.
NOTE:An Exhaust Restriction can set this DTC.
NOTE:Unapproved software calibrations or Unauthorized Performance Enhancements can set this DTC.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record all Freeze frame data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for 75 seconds.
- Start the engine and test drive the vehicle under normal conditions for at least 10 minutes.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE AIR CLEANER BOX FOR PROPER SEALING
- Check the Air Cleaner Box for being cracked, out of position, lid not secured, or other damage. Also, check the connection between the Inlet Air Tube and the Air Cleaner Box to make sure that it is sealed properly.
Is the Air Cleaner Box free of damage and the Inlet Air Tube installed and sealed properly?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair or replace the Air Cleaner Box (as needed) and/or repair the connection between the Air Cleaner Box and the Inlet Air Tube.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the Air Cleaner Box for being cracked, out of position, lid not secured, or other damage. Also, check the connection between the Inlet Air Tube and the Air Cleaner Box to make sure that it is sealed properly.
- VERIFY THE ACCURACY OF THE BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR WITH THE SCAN TOOL
- Connect the scan tool.
- Monitor the Boost Pressure.
Is the value less than 4.0 psi?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Temperature/Pressure MAP Sensor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, MAP, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- VERIFY THE ACCURACY OF THE BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR WITH A MECHANICAL GAUGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect a mechanical intake manifold pressure gauge to the engine.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- Compare the boost pressure reading on the scan tool to the reading on the mechanical intake manifold pressure gauge.NOTE:
The engine may need to be loaded before the pressure readings can be compared.
Is the pressure difference greater than 2.5 psi between the scan tool and the mechanical gauge reading?
Yes
- Replace the Temperature/Pressure MAP Sensor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, MAP, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK FOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS
- Unapproved software calibrations or Unauthorized Performance Enhancements can set this DTC.
Is there evidence of unapproved software calibrations or Unauthorized Performance Enhancements?
Yes
- Repair Complete.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- Unapproved software calibrations or Unauthorized Performance Enhancements can set this DTC.
- POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
- Disconnect all PCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all PCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Freeze Frame and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
