Radiator, Engine Cooling: Removal: Diesel

- Disconnect and isolate both negative battery cable.
- Remove the oil dip stick (2).
- Remove bolts (1) and the engine cover (3).
- If A/C equipped, recover A/C refrigerant. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE

- Remove fasteners (2) and the upper radiator shroud (1).WARNING:
Do not remove the cylinder block drain plugs or loosen the radiator draincock with the system hot and under pressure. Serious burns from coolant can occur.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove air cleaner body and turbocharger inlet tube. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL, 6.7L .
- Remove the viscous fan and fan shroud. Refer to FAN, COOLING, VISCOUS, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the fastener (2) securing A/C line (1).
- If equipped, remove nuts (4 and 6) and disconnect A/C condenser refrigerant lines and install caps or plugs to the opening.
- Remove fasteners (2 and 5) securing A/C manifold and line.
- Remove the coolant bottle hose (1) from radiator (2).
- Remove the upper radiator hoses (1) from the radiator.NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
- Remove retainers (2) and the intermediate flexible shroud (1) from both sides of radiator.
- If equipped, disconnect the transmission cooler lines. Refer to TUBES AND HOSES, TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the lower radiator hose (1) from the radiator.
- Remove the left side radiator mounting bolt (1).
- Remove the right side radiator mounting bolt (2).
- Tilt the radiator towards the rear of the vehicle and lift the radiator (1) out of the engine compartment.
- If necessary, remove bolts (1) and the radiator shroud (2).
