Diagnostic Test

- ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record all Freeze frame data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for 75 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE (K935) EGR OUTLET TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor harness connector.NOTE:
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (K935) EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor Signal circuit at the EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Is the voltage above 5.2 Volts?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (K935) EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (K935) EGR OUTLET TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (K935) EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor Signal circuit between the EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (K935) EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor Signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK THE (K915) SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (K915) EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor Return circuit between the EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (K915) Sensor Return circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- Measure the resistance of the (K915) EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor Return circuit between the EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
- EGR OUTLET TEMPERATURE SENSOR
- Replace the EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor in accordance with the service information.
- Reconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
- Reconnect the EGR Outlet Temperature Sensor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
- Perform several ignition key cycles leaving the ignition on for at least 10 seconds per cycle.
- Start the engine and let it run for two minutes.
- With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC?
Yes
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
