Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
This DTC will set if the Fuel Gauge is showing empty and the Fuel Tank is actually empty. In this case, there are no repairs indicated (except adding fuel to the tank).
NOTE:(If the Fuel Gauge is not showing empty) But, (Body Control Module) DTCs P0265-11 or P0265-15 are present, perform the Diagnostics on those DTCs before continuing with this one.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Cycle the key ignition on, then off, then on again.
- With the scan tool, read the PCM DTCs.
Did this DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- FUEL TANK
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the Fuel Tank for fuel capacity.NOTE:
If the engine will start and run, fill the fuel tank while monitoring the amount of fuel required to fill. Then, compare this amount to the Fuel Tank capacity specifications. If the actual fill requirements are the same as the capacity, the Fuel Tank inspection result would be: 'empty'.
Did the Fuel Tank inspection show that the tank was empty?
Yes
- This is an indication there is an error in the Fuel Tank Level Sensor reporting to the Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to the DTC INDEX - 1500 .
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
