Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    3. Crank the engine for no more than 10 seconds if it will not start.
    4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. A/C CLUTCH RELAY 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace the A/C Clutch Relay (in the Power Distribution Center) with a known good relay.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    5. Start the engine or crank the engine for 10 seconds.
    6. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3.

      No 

  3. CHECK THE (C13) A/C CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Remove the A/C Clutch Relay from the Power Distribution Center (PDC).
    3. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between ground and the (C13) A/C Clutch Control circuit at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER (PDC) 
    1. Disconnect the PDC harness connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance between ground and the (C13) A/C Clutch Control circuit at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Power Distribution Center (PDC) in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Repair the (C13) A/C Clutch Control circuit for a short ground.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
