Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    3. Crank the engine for no more than 10 seconds if it will not start.
    4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. FUEL PUMP RELAY 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace the Fuel Pump Relay (in the Power Distribution Center) with a known good relay.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    5. Start the engine or crank the engine for 10 seconds.
    6. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

  3. CHECK (K31) FUEL PUMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the PDC harness connectors.
    4. Measure the resistance of the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit between the PCM C1 harness connector and the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit at the PDC harness connectors.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit for an open/high resistance.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER (PDC) 
    1. Remove the Fuel Pump Relay.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit between the Fuel Pump Relay terminal and the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit at the PDC harness connectors.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Power Distribution Center (PDC) in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
