Diagnostic Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 RAM 2500 HD and 2012 RAM Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
Diagnose and repair any system voltage or sensor reference voltage DTCs before continuing with this test.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
- Test drive the vehicle.
- Using the scan tool, view PCM DTCs.
Did this DTC return?

No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (F342) ASD RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Short Runner Valve Assembly harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, actuate the Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay Control State.
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F342) ASD Relay Output circuit in the Short Runner Valve Assembly harness connector.NOTE:
The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Is the test light illuminated and bright?
Yes
