Removal And Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 RAM 3500 HD and 2019 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

REMOVAL 

WARNING:

To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbags, airbag curtains, knee blocker, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS)/negative battery cable assembly from the negative battery post, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    NOTE:

    EVIC switch does not need to be removed from steering wheel bezel.

  2. Remove the EVIC switch. Refer to SWITCH, EVIC CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Carefully disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the remote radio switch.

  4. Carefully pull the remote radio switch (1) away from the steering wheel spoke armature.

INSTALLATION 

WARNING:

  1. Position and carefully seat the remote radio switch and wire harness to the steering wheel spoke armature.
  2. Connect the wire harness connector to the remote radio switch.
  3. Install the EVIC switch. Refer to SWITCH, EVIC CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
