Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel center bezel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
4. Remove the ESM trim bezel from the ESM using a trim stick or equivalent.

5. Remove the four ESM retaining bolts (1) and remove the ESM.

6. Disconnect the ESM wire harness connectors (1, 2).
7. Remove the ESM from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Connect the ESM wire harness connectors (1, 2).

2. Install the ESM and the four ESM retaining bolts (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

3. Engage the ESM trim bezel (1) inner retaining tabs around the ESM (2) and gently push to lock the tabs in place.
4. Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
5. Install the instrument panel center bezel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
6. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
