Removal And Installation

REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the instrument panel center bezel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the ESM trim bezel from the ESM using a trim stick or equivalent.
- Remove the four ESM retaining bolts (1) and remove the ESM.
- Disconnect the ESM wire harness connectors (1, 2).
- Remove the ESM from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
- Connect the ESM wire harness connectors (1, 2).
- Install the ESM and the four ESM retaining bolts (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Engage the ESM trim bezel (1) inner retaining tabs around the ESM (2) and gently push to lock the tabs in place.
- Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the instrument panel center bezel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CENTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
