Removal And Installation

REMOVAL
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- If equipped, remove the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , PLATE, SKID, FUEL TANK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Mark a line across the axle companion flange, drive shaft, flange yoke and transmission case for installation reference.
- Remove the rear drive shaft to rear axle bolts (1).
- If equipped, remove the two bolts (1) holding the center support bearing(s).
- Remove the rear drive shaft.
INSTALLATION
- Insert drive shaft into transmission or transfer case.
- If equipped, install the two bolts (1) holding the center support bearing(s). Tighten to proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the rear drive shaft to the axle with all the reference marks aligned. Install the four bolts (1) and torque to proper specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- If equipped, install the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , PLATE, SKID, FUEL TANK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
