Installation - Engine

- Install engine lift fixture (2) Special tool # 8984 and 8984-UPD (4).
- Position the engine in the engine compartment.
- Lower engine into compartment and align engine with transmission.
- Mate engine and transmission and install two transmission to engine block mounting bolts finger tight.
- Lower engine assembly until engine mount studs rest in frame perches.
1 - BOLTS 2 - ENGINE OIL PAN 3 - TRANSMISSION 1 - ENGINE 2 - BOLTS 3 - TRANSMISSION - Install remaining transmission to engine block mounting bolts (1, 2)and tighten.
- Install and tighten engine mount to frame nuts.
1 - Bolts - Install drive plate to torque converter bolts (1).
1 - ACCESS COVER 2 - BOLT - Install the torque convertor access cover (1).
1 - STARTER 2 -BOLTS - Install the starter (1) and connect the starter wires (Refer to ELECTRICAL/STARTING/STARTER MOTOR - INSTALLATION)

1 - LEFT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 2 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT 3 - OIL PAN 4 - FRONT DRIVE AXLE HOUSING - FOR AWD ONLY
Install the intermediate shaft (2) to the oil pan (3). Torque fasteners to 28N.m (21ft. lbs).
1 - LEFT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 2 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT 3 - OIL PAN 4 - FRONT DRIVE AXLE HOUSING - FOR AWD ONLY Install the front differential through the opening at the rear of the cradle, and attach to the oil pan.
- FOR AWD ONLY
Fasten the differential (4) to the oil pan (3) Torque to 65 N.m (48 ft. lbs).
1 - BRACKET 2 - BOLT 3 - DRIVE AXLE HOSING 4 - FRONT DRIVE SHAFT SHIELD - FOR AWD ONLY
Install the differential support bracket (1) to the differential and the engine block.
1 - FASTENER 2 - LEFT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 3 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT HOUSING 4 - OIL PAN - FOR AWD ONLY Install the left (2) and right front drive axles. (Refer to DIFFERENTIAL & DRIVELINE/HALF SHAFT - INSTALLATION) .
- FOR AWD ONLY Install front drive shaft into the differential and transfer case. (Refer to DIFFERENTIAL & DRIVELINE/PROPELLER SHAFT - INSTALLATION)
- Install exhaust pipe to manifold.
- Lower the vehicle.
1 - Bolts 2 - Engine Lift Fixture 3 - Adapter Bolt 4 - Adapter 5 - Adapter Nut - Remove engine lift fixture (2), special tool # 8984 and 8984-UPD (4).
- Connect the fuel supply line (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/QUICK CONNECT FITTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Reinstall the power steering pump.
1 - Heater Hose 2 - Clamp 3 - Tube 1 - Heater Hose 2 - Clamp 3 - Tube - Connect the heater hoses(1, 1,).
- Reconnect the ground wires to the rear of each cylinder head.
- Install the intake manifold. (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the generator (2), generator support bracket (1), and wire connections (Refer to ELECTRICAL/CHARGING/GENERATOR - INSTALLATION) .
- Install a/c compressor (3) (Refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING/A/C COMPRESSOR - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the accessory drive belt (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the radiator fan shroud (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - INSTALLATION) .
- Connect the radiator lower hose.
- Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator.
- Connect the radiator upper hose.
1 - Engine Cover 2 - Attaching Studs - Install cowl top panel (Refer to BODY/EXTERIOR/COWL GRILLE - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the air cleaner resonator and duct work.
- Add engine oil to crankcase (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/FLUID TYPES - SPECIFICATIONS) .
- Fill cooling system (Refer to COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Install the engine cover (1).
- Connect battery negative cable.
- Start engine and inspect for leaks.
- Install the belly pan (2) (Refer to BODY/EXTERIOR/BELLY PAN - INSTALLATION) .
- Road test vehicle.
