Pan - Oil: Installation: AWD

- Clean oil pan and all mating surfaces.
- Replace the oil level indicator tube seal.
- Apply a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar® Engine RTV GEN II at the parting line of the oil pump housing and the rear seal retainer. See Fig 1.
1 - OIL PAN 2 - BOLT 3 - NUT 4 - GASKET 5 - ENGINE BLOCK - Install the oil pan gasket (4) to the engine block (5). See Fig 2.
- Install the oil pan (1) while aligning the oil level indicator tube and attach the fasteners finger tight.
1 - TIGHTEN FIRST 2 - TIGHTEN SECOND 3 - TIGHTEN THIRD NOTE: Assure that the rear face of the oil pan is flush to the transmission bell housing when installing the oil pan. - Pre-torque the horizontal rear oil pan to transmission bolts to 1.4 N.m (12 lbs. in.). See Fig 3.
- First tighten the M8 (1) oil pan alignment bolt to 28 N.m (250 lbs. in.), then tighten bolt (2) to 28 N.m (250 lbs. in.). See Fig 3.
- Tighten the remaining M8 bolts and M8 nuts to 28 N.m (250 lbs. in.) and the M6 bolts to 12 N.m (105 lbs. in). See Fig 3.
1 - BOLTS 2 - ENGINE OIL PAN 3 - TRANSMISSION - Tighten the four M10 oil pan (2) to transmission (3) bolts (1) to 55 N.m (40 lbs. ft.). See Fig 4.
1 - COVER 2 - BOLT - Install the torque converter access cover (1) and tighten the fastener (2) to 11 N.m (97 lbs. in.). See Fig 5.
- Install the engine oil cooler and new oil filter. Refer to COOLER-ENGINE OIL .
1 - BRACKET 2 - BOLT 3 - DRIVE AXLE HOSING 4 - FRONT DRIVE SHAFT SHIELD - Support the engine with a jack stand.
- Install the front drive axle housing (3). Tighten mounting bolts to oil pan to 65 N.m (48 lbs. ft.). See Fig 6.
- Remove the jack stand.
1 - BRACKET 2 - RIGHT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 3 - AXLE HOUSING 4 - FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HEAT SHIELD - Install the front drive axle housing support bracket (1). See Fig 7.
- Install the front suspension sway bar to cradle.
- Install the engine mount to front cradle fasteners. Tighten the fasteners to 75 N.m (55 lbs. ft.).
- Position and install the power steering hose to cradle hold downs.
- Install the right catalytic converter.
- Align the paint marks and install the front drive shaft.
- Install the front drive shaft heat shield (4). See Fig 7.
1 - FASTENER 2 - LEFT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 3 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT HOUSING 4 - OIL PAN - Install the left front drive axle intermediate shaft housing (3) and support bracket. Tighten fasteners to 25 N.m (19 lbs. ft.). See Fig 8.
- Connect the power steering hoses to the steering rack.
- Install the left front drive axle (2). See Fig 8.
1 - BRACKET 2 - RIGHT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 3 - AXLE HOUSING 4 - FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HEAT SHIELD - Install the right front drive axle (2). See Fig 9.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/FLUID TYPES - SPECIFICATIONS) .
- Fill the cooling system. (Refer to COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Fill the power steering.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
