Right Cylinder Head

1 - DRIVE BELT TENSIONER

2 - POWER STEERING PULLEY

3 - AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR

4 - CRANKSHAFT DAMPER

5 - GENERATOR

6 - DRIVE BELT

Perform the fuel relief procedure.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Drain cooling system. (Refer to COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
Remove the upper intake manifold. (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - REMOVAL) .
Remove the lower intake manifold. (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - REMOVAL) .
Remove accessory drive belt (6). See Figure.
Remove accessory drive belt idler pulley. See Figure.
Remove the power steering mounting bolts and set the pump aside. (Refer to STEERING/PUMP - REMOVAL) .
Raise the vehicle.
Remove crankshaft damper (4).(Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - REMOVAL) . See Figure.
Remove lower outer timing belt cover bolts. See Figure.

Remove front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold mounting nuts (1). See Fig 2.
Disconnect both oxygen sensor (2) harness connectors on each side. See Fig 2.
Lower vehicle.

Remove the remaining outer timing belt cover bolts and cover.

Rotate the engine to TDC and align timing belt marks (1, 8, 9). See Fig 3.
Remove the timing belt tensioner (12) and reset the tensioner. (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN TENSIONER & PULLEY - REMOVAL) .

Remove the timing belt (4). (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN AND SPROCKETS - REMOVAL) .

Remove the right cylinder head cover to cylinder head ground strap and capacitor (3). See Fig 4.
Remove the EGR valve and tube assembly.

Remove the right cylinder head cover.

Remove the right rocker arm assembly (2).

Remove the right rear camshaft thrust plate (1). See Fig 6.

Counter-hold the cam gear and remove the right cam gear retaining bolt. See Fig 7.

Push the camshaft (5) out of the back of the cylinder head approximately 3.5 inches and remove the right cam gear. See Fig 8.

Remove the inner timing cover to cylinder head retaining bolts.
Remove the cylinder head bolts in REVERSE of tightening sequence. See Fig 9.
Remove the cylinder head.
Clean and inspect all mating surfaces.
