Test 14A: Interrogate Left SIACM

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRBIII, determine if LIGHT ON status message from left Side Impact Air Bag Control Module (SIACM) is an active or stored Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). If LIGHT ON status message is an active DTC, go to next step. If LIGHT ON status message is a stored DTC, go to TEST 1B: REPAIRING STORED CODES  .
  2. On DRBIII display, read active left SIACM DTCs. If DRBIII displays any active left SIACM DTCs, go appropriate test and diagnose malfunction. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)  table. If DRBIII does not display any active left SIACM DTCs, replace Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
