Instrument Cluster Inoperative - No Response

  1. Using scan tool, ensure instrument cluster is communicating with Body Control Module (BCM), and other modules via PCI bus. If scan tool communicates with all modules, go to next step. If communication was not established with one or more modules, perform appropriate COMMUNICATION FAILURE test under COMMUNICATIONS under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster from instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check wiring harness for damage, spread terminals or poor terminal contact at connections. Repair as necessary. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, ensure ignition switch status is being input to BCM. If ignition switch status is being input into BCM, go to next step. If ignition switch status is not being input into BCM, check ignition switch and associated wiring. See IGNITION SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS in STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article.
  4. Check wake up circuit between BCM and instrument cluster. See appropriate test under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Check power and ground circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
