Test L: Blower Motor Speeds Incorrect
- Turn blower switch off. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If blower motor runs, go to next step. If blower motor does not run, go to step 4.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect HVAC control panel C2 connector. Disconnect blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and all terminals of blower motor resistor connector. Measure resistance between ground and all HVAC control panel C2 connector terminals, except Black/Gray wire terminal. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or more at all terminals specified, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms at any terminals, repair affected circuit for short to ground. After repair, go to step 9.
- Measure resistance between ground and blower motor driver circuit (Black wire) terminal of blower motor resistor connector. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Black wire terminal. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or more, replace HVAC control panel. After repair, go to step 9.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect HVAC control panel C2 connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and all terminals of HVAC control panel C2 connector terminals, except Black/Gray wire terminal. If any reading is less than 10 volts, go to step 7. If all readings are 10 volts or more (except Black/Gray wire terminal), go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect blower motor resistor. Measure voltage between ground and all terminals of HVAC control panel C2 connector terminals, except Black/Gray wire terminal. If no voltage is present at all terminals (except Black/Gray wire terminal), go to next step. If voltage is present at any terminal, repair short to voltage in affected circuits (except Black/Gray wire terminal). After repair, go to step 9.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Using DVOM, measure resistance between each terminal of blower motor resistor and all terminals of blower motor resistor. If reading is less than 10 k/ohms between any terminals, locate and repair short between those circuits. If reading is 10 k/ohms or more between all terminals of blower motor resistor, replace HVAC control panel. After any repair, go to step 9.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect HVAC control panel C2 connector. Disconnect blower motor resistor harness connector. Measure resistance of all circuits between blower motor resistor connector and HVAC control panel C2 connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If all resistance readings for each circuit is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open in affected circuit. After repair, go to step 9.
- Ensure blower motor resistor is disconnected. Check for continuity between each terminal and all other terminals of blower motor resistor (component side). If continuity exists between all terminals, replace HVAC control panel. If continuity does not exist between any terminals, replace blower motor resistor. After repair, go to next step.
- Perform verification test. See BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 under VERIFICATION TESTS.
