Test L: Transaxle Does Not Shift (No DTCS)
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
For circuit reference, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
NOTE:
If transaxle will not shift while driving and DTCs are not set in PCM memory, likely cause may be faulty PNP switch or PCM.
- If transaxle remains in 3rd gear when starting from a stop with gearshift lever in "D" position, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, go to step 5 .
- Using a DVOM, check PCM back-up power at PCM connector terminal No. 66. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage is supplied to PCM, go to next step. If battery voltage is not supplied, go to step 4 .
- Using a DVOM, check PCM ignition power feed. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If ignition voltage is supplied to PCM, go to step 5 . If ignition voltage is not supplied, go to next step.
- Check PCM power supplies. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check for opens, shorts or open fuses. Repair as necessary.
- Using scan tool, check PNP switch parameters under specified conditions. See SCAN TOOL DATA under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If parameters check okay, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If parameters are not as specified, go to next step.
- Diagnose PNP switch circuit. See DTC 27 & 28: PNP SWITCH CIRCUIT under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. Repair as necessary. If symptom is eliminated, diagnosis is complete. If symptom is not eliminated, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
