Test J: Incorrect Shift Points (All Gears)

NOTE: If all shift points are incorrect while driving, likely cause may be faulty output shaft speed sensor, TP sensor, shift solenoid valve, abnormal line pressure, faulty valve body or PCM.
  1. Using scan tool, monitor output shaft speed sensor parameter. If parameter increases in proportion to vehicle speed, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose output shaft speed sensor circuit. See DTC 23: OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. Repair as necessary.
  2. Using scan tool, monitor TP sensor parameter. If parameter increases in proportion to accelerator travel, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, diagnose TP sensor circuit. See DTC 11, 12 & 14: TP SENSOR CIRCUIT  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  3. Using scan tool, monitor duty percent of each shift control solenoid. Ensure duty percent is as specified under conditions listed. See SCAN TOOL DATA  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If duty percent is okay, go to next step. If duty percent is not okay, go to step  5 .
  4. Adjust line pressure. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE ADJUSTMENTS  under PERFORMANCE TESTS. If symptoms are still present, disassemble valve body and inspect. See appropriate OVERHAUL article. Check for loose bolts, damaged "O" rings, valves and valve bodies. Repair or replace as necessary.
  5. Replace appropriate solenoid with a known-good unit and retest to eliminate possible intermittent problem. See SOLENOID VALVES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If symptoms are still present, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
