Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Disconnect solenoid valve assembly 10-pin connector located at PNP switch on transaxle. Using a DVOM, measure resistance of torque converter clutch solenoid valve between solenoid valve assembly connector terminals No. 7 and 10. See Figure . Resistance should be 2.7-3.4 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step. If resistance is as specified, go to step 3 .
- Test TCC solenoid. See SOLENOID VALVES under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace if necessary. See SOLENOID VALVES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If solenoid tests okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect PCM harness connectors. Using a DVOM, ensure continuity is present in circuit between TCC solenoid, PCM and A/T control relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If circuit is okay, replace TCC solenoid with known-good unit. See SOLENOID VALVES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest to eliminate possible intermittent problem. If symptoms are still present, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
