Throttle Position Sensor Circuit

NOTE: For circuit reference, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
NOTE: Likely cause for failure may be faulty Throttle Position (TP) sensor circuit or PCM.
  1. Test TP sensor. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace if necessary. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If TP sensor tests okay, go to next step.
  2. Check condition of TP sensor and PCM harness connectors. Repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  3. Check wire harness between TP sensor and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If wire harness is okay, go to next step.
  4. Recheck for symptoms. If symptoms are still present, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
