Timing Chain Cover: Installation

- Inspect and clean timing chain cover sealing surfaces.
- Before installing timing cover gasket apply a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar® Engine RTV GEN II to the parting lines between the oil pan and cylinder block. See Figure.
- Install timing cover and gasket. Tighten M10 cover bolts to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.) and M6 bolts to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.). See Figure.
- Install front crankshaft oil seal using Special Tool 6780-2 sleeve and 6780-1 installer.
- Lower vehicle.
- Install right engine mount (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE MOUNTING/RIGHT MOUNT - INSTALLATION) .
- Install screws attaching heater supply tube to right front frame rail area.
- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Connect heater hose to supply tube at right front frame rail area.
- Install AC/Generator belt tensioner/bracket assembly.
- Install crankshaft vibration damper. (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - INSTALLATION)
- Install accessory drive belts (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .
- Install belt splash shield and right front wheel.
- Lower vehicle.
- Install coolant pressure container (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/COOLANT RECOVERY PRESS CONTAINER - INSTALLATION) .
- Fill cooling system (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Connect negative battery cable.
