Test 5C: Orc Messages Not Received

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform air bag verification test after all repairs unless otherwise directed. See TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Connect DRB to DLC connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Using DRB, attempt to communicate with ORC. If DRB cannot communicate with ORC, go to TEST 2C: NO RESPONSE FROM ORC  . If DRB can communicate with ORC, go to next step.
  2. Using DRB, erase all DTCs. Cycle ignition switch from OFF to ON position and wait one minute. Using DRB, read DTCs. If DRB displays ORC MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED, replace BCM and perform body verification test. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. See TEST VER-2: BODY VERIFICATION TEST  . If DRB does not display ORC MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED, system is operating normally at this time.
