Test 29A: Orc, No Cluster Message (Active Code)

NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. On DRB, ensure instrument cluster is communicating on the PCI bus. If DRB displays INSTRUMENT CLUSTER COMMUNICATING ON THE BUS, go to next step. If DRB does not display INSTRUMENT CLUSTER COMMUNICATING ON THE BUS, diagnose instrument cluster bus malfunction.
- On DRB, select PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIRBAG, MONITOR DISPLAY and WARNING LAMP STATUS. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn ignition switch to ON position and observe DRB screen after 6-8 seconds. If DRB reads LAMP ON BY MIC: ON or OFF, and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If DRB does not read LAMP ON BY MIC: ON or OFF, replace instrument cluster circuit board and perform body verification test.
