INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1: Power of radio and CD player does not turn ON when the ignition switch is in the "ACC" position or "ON" position.: Diagnosis
Required Special Tool:
- MB991223: Harness set
- STEP 1. Check to see that the radio and CD player is energized ON when the power switch is turned ON.
- Turn the ignition switch to "ACC" position.
- Turn ON the radio and CD player power switch.
Q: Is the radio and CD player energized when the power switch is turned "ON"?
YES : Go to Step 2.
NO: Go to Step 5.
- STEP 2. Check radio and CD player connector C-11 for damage.
Q: Is radio and CD player connector C-11 in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 3.
NO: Repair or replace the connector. Refer to , HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION . If the power switch is turned on, the radio and CD player should operate normally.
- STEP 3. Check the wiring harnesses between radio and CD player connector C-11 (terminal 7) and the battery.
NOTE: Also check intermediate connector C-209 and joint connector C-141. If intermediate connector C-209 or joint connector C-141 are damaged, repair or replace the connector as described in , HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .
Q: Are the wiring harnesses between radio and CD player connector C-11 (terminal 7) and the battery in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 4.
NO: Repair the wiring harness(es). If the power switch is turned on, the radio and CD player should operate normally.
- STEP 4. Check the installation condition of the radio and CD player. NOTE: The radio and CD player are grounded to the instrument panel center reinforcement directly.
Q: Are the radio and CD player installed correctly?
YES : Repair or replace the radio and CD player. If the power switch is turned on, the radio and CD player should operate normally.
NO: Install the radio and CD player properly. If the power switch is turned on, the radio and CD player should operate normally.
- STEP 5. Measure at radio and CD player connector C-11 in order to check the battery circuit of power supply system to the radio and CD player (ignition switch ACC).
- Disconnect radio and CD player connector C-11, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Turn the ignition switch to "ACC" position.
- Measure the voltage between terminal 6 and ground.
- The measured value should be approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage).
Q: Does the measured voltage correspond with this range?
YES : Go to Step 8.
NO: Go to Step 6.
- STEP 6. Check radio and CD player connector C-11 for damage.
Q: Is radio and CD player connector C-11 in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 7.
