Test 4A: Left SIACM, Seat Squib Circuit Open (Active Code)
NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed. Left seat squib circuit wires change color at connector C209 (Orange-Yellow becomes White and Yellow-Orange becomes Orange). See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Disconnect left side air bag module 4-pin connector C209 located at base of seat. Connect SRS Load Tool (8310) Brown cable and appropriate jumper to harness side of left side air bag connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Read left SIACM DTCs. If DRB displays LEFT SEAT SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN, go to next step. If DRB does not display LEFT SEAT SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN, replace left side air bag module. See SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Access and disconnect left SIACM connector. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (SIACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS Load Tool (8443) passenger cable and appropriate jumper to left SIACM connector. Measure resistance between left SIACM connector terminal No. 3 and left side air bag module connector C209 terminal No. 4 (Orange-Yellow wire). See Fig 1 & Fig 2 . If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than one ohm, repair open or high resistance in Orange-Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Connect SRS Load Tool (8310) Brown cable and appropriate jumper to left SIACM connector. Measure resistance of between left SIACM connector terminal No. 4 and left side air bag module connector C209 terminal No. 3 (Yellow-Orange wire). If resistance is less than one ohm and no other malfunctions are detected, replace left side impact air bag control module. If resistance is more than one ohm, repair open or high resistance in Yellow-Orange wire.
