Test 29A: Air Bag Warning Indicator On Without Trouble Codes

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed. All active DTCs must be diagnosed and resolved prior to performing this procedure.
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. On DRB, select MONITOR DISPLAY and WARNING LAMP STATUS. Read PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIRBAG, MONITOR DISPLAY and WARNING LAMP status.
  2. If DRB displays LAMP RE Q BY ACM: ON, replace ACM. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (ACM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If DRB does not display LAMP RE Q BY ACM: ON, diagnose instrument cluster and-or related circuit malfunction. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
