Test 8A: Orc, Cluster Message Mismatch (Active Code)

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Read odometer display on instrument cluster. If odometer display reads NO BUS, diagnose instrument cluster bus malfunction. If odometer display does not read NO BUS, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to off position. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, select PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIRBAG, MONITOR DISPLAY and WARNING LAMP STATUS. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn ignition switch to ON position and observe DRB screen after 6-8 seconds. If DRB LAMP ON BY MIC and LAMP REQ BY ORC monitors match and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If DRB LAMP ON BY MIC and LAMP REQ BY ORC monitors DO NOT match, replace instrument cluster and perform body verification test. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
