Test 18A: Orc, Not Configured For SAB (Side Air Bag-Active Code)

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, select PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIRBAG and SYSTEM TEST. If DRB displays PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step. If DRB does not display PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, diagnose PCM and-or PCM circuit malfunction.
  2. Using DRB, read vehicle identification number (VIN) in PCM. If VIN in PCM matches VIN plate on vehicle and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If VIN in PCM does not match VIN plate on vehicle, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
