Test 43B - Intermittent Shift Lever Status

NOTE: Perform TEST 43A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Determine which switch has suspect intermittent circuit. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect suspect switch connector. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM). Using external ohmmeter, check continuity of circuits between switch and TCM. Wiggle applicable wires at both connectors.
  2. If ohmmeter displays intermittent continuity, inspect and repair circuit as needed. Go to TEST 4A  . If continuity does not change, replace defective switch. Go to TEST 4A  .
