Test NS-5A - Checking Fuel Pump
NOTE:

article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Fuel Pump (FP) relay. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuel pump relay connector terminal "B" (Red/Black wire on FJ22 and F24S bodies; Red wire on JA body; Red/White wire on PL body). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red/Black wire, Red wire or Red/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Substitute a known-good fuel pump relay. Attempt to start engine. If engine starts, replace fuel pump relay. If engine does not start, go to next step.
- Reinstall original fuel pump relay. Disconnect fuel pump connector. Ensure fuel pump connector has clean and tight connections. Turn ignition on. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, actuate fuel system. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuel pump connector terminal No. 2 on FJ22 body (Black/Dark Blue wire), No. 3 on F24S body (Black/Dark Blue wire), or No. 4 on JA and PL bodies (Dark Green/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/Dark Blue wire or Dark Green/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fuel pump connector terminal No. 1 on FJ22 and PL bodies, No. 2 on JA body or No. 4 on F24S body (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace fuel pump.
