Intake Manifold: Installation

Ensure all surfaces are clean. Place a drop (1/4" diameter) of silicone rubber adhesive sealant onto each of 4 manifold to cylinder head gasket corners. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure using NEW gaskets. Tighten all screws and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

1. Clean sealing surfaces. Apply a 1/4" diameter drop of Sealant (4318025) in 4 corners of intake manifold-to-cylinder head contact areas.
2. Install intake manifold gasket. Tighten intake manifold gasket end seal retaining screws to 106 INCH lbs. (12 N.m). Install intake manifold. Tighten manifold bolts to specification in proper sequence. See Figure . See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
3. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Clean injector holes. Lubricate injector "O" rings with engine oil before installation. Install injector until firmly seated in port.
4. Tighten air intake plenum bolts to specification and in sequence. See Figure . See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install fuel lines until a click is heard. Fuel supply line is a 5/16" diameter fitting and fuel return line is a 1/4" fitting.
5. To fill and bleed cooling system, remove engine temperature sending unit located in front of thermostat housing. Fill cooling system until coolant reaches hole. Install sending unit and tighten to 60 INCH lbs. (7 N.m). Finish filling cooling system.
