Rocker Arms & Push Rods: Installation

  1. Check that push rods are seated in valve lifters. Install rocker arm assembly in original location. Install steel retainers on rocker arm shaft bolts.
  2. Slowly tighten rocker arm shaft bolts to specification, starting at center and working outward. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  at end of this article. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure.
CAUTION: DO NOT operate engine until 20 minutes after rocker arm installation. This allows proper amount of time for valve lifters to bleed down.
